Accreditation

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice program and post-graduate APRN certificate program at the University of Vermont are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The Master of Nursing program is a new program and as such is currently under review in the accreditation process.  The Office of Professional Regulation in the Vermont Secretary of State's office governs Vermont licensure requirements.

Curriculum

Upon enrollment, students will be provided with personalized advice regarding the courses required to obtain their postgraduate certificate. The gap analysis, supported by an interview and comprehensive resources found in the UVM Course Catalog and the Nursing Graduate Student Handbook, guarantees that each student's academic path is customized to their individual needs and aspirations. This detailed evaluation ensures that students can be assured of receiving an education that is both comprehensive and focused, enhancing their existing knowledge in nursing. Students are required to have completed courses in nursing theory, nursing research or evidence-based practice, healthcare policy, advanced pharmacology, and advanced pathophysiology.

Submission of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores is not mandatory. However, an interview is necessary to assist in the gap analysis.

Will courses be online, hybrid, or on campus?

Some courses are available live on campus at set times, while others are provided in a hybrid format with either synchronous remote or asynchronous online delivery. Travel to rural sites requires a car.

The University of Vermont will send a notification once your application materials are received.

When will I learn whether I have been admitted to the program?

Applicants will receive notification of the admissions decisions roughly two weeks following the submission of their application.
