For commitment to nursing and financial stewardship

Kevin Perry, business accounting specialist for the UVM Department of Nursing, received the Friend of Nursing award from Sigma Theta Tau International Kappa Tau Chapter. The award recognizes Perry’s commitment to nursing and excellence in leadership and service through financial stewardship. Perry received the award in a ceremony during Kappa Tau’s annual meeting on April 24.

Nursing professors Marcia Bosek and Laura Lewis nominated Perry for the award for his generous service to Kappa Tau. They noted his gracious sharing of his skills and knowledge to assist the chapter in organizing financial records and establishing a financial system that will provide guidance for budget forecasting. This allowed Kappa Tau to save the expense of hiring an outside accountant.

“I think it’s important to help coworkers and share resources. It builds a good team environment,” Perry said.

Perry has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in management. He joined UVM Department of Nursing two years ago after working as an accounting manager for the Hilton Garden Inn in Burlington.

“It was thoughtful of Marcia and Laura to nominate me," said Perry. "It shows they were appreciative of my help.”
