Research Philosophy
We are generally fascinated by the types of phases of matter that emerge when large numbers of bosons
or fermions interact strongly in solids. We employ a variety of methods in our
research, including both analytical and numerical techniques to help elucidate
the role played by quantum mechanics in these complex systems.
Some specific areas include:
- Theoretical studies of complex nanoscale materials
- Strongly-correlated systems and novel electronic compounds
- Quantum many-body phenomena in low-dimensional systems
- Large scale quantum Monte Carlo simulations of quantum matter
- The physics of Graphene, carbon nanotubes, and their derivatives
- Studies of emergent phenomena in complex quantum systems
