Lauren MacKillop is a lecturer and program coordinator of Early Childhood Education program at UVM where she has been teaching since 2007.
Lauren's work with early childhood education students and educators in the community is intentionally focused on a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. She is highly dedicated to the development of inclusive early learning environments that are culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate, and designed to both disrupt bias and alleviate its effects on every child and family.
The field of early childhood is in dire need of skilled practitioners and a pipeline into the profession. Lauren skillfully collaborates with community partners in developing a mutually beneficial service. In addition to providing much-needed support, students often seek employment with their community partners following their experience, and many commit to a teaching licensure pathway.
Recently honored as the recipient of the 2022 Outstanding New Service-Learning Faculty Award given by UVM's Office of Community-Engaged Learning, Lauren was recognized for her ongoing commitment to community-engaged teaching and learning while strengthening the quality of early childhood education in our community.
