Our Academic Commitment

As a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disability, CDCI acts as a bridge between the community and the university in Vermont. CDCI employees and affiliates teach in-person and online, run educational programs, create innovative courses, and give guest lectures. We work to use Universal Design strategies to promote inclusion, diversity, and self-determination.

THE CERTIFICATE OF GRADUATE STUDIES IN THE INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDY OF DISABILITIES

The intent of the program is to enhance the diverse education and instructional needs of educators, healthcare professionals, people with disabilities, and family members.

This program provides people in a variety of educational, healthcare and other occupations the opportunity to acquire information and knowledge that is critical to understanding and supporting persons with disabilities in communities.

COURSES

CDCI faculty members offer multiple courses throughout the academic year through the College of Education and Social Services and Continuing and Distance Education.

THINK COLLEGE VERMONT

What started out as a federally funded grant is now a thriving inclusive program for students with intellectual disabilities. Think College students take UVM courses, participate in for-credit internships, and navigate campus culture with the support of peer mentors. These credits and experiences culminate in a Certificate of Professional Studies through UVM's College of Continuing and Distance Education, with the ultimate goal of more gainful employment.
