Research and Evaluation Core Function Coordinator, & Research Assistant Professor

Valerie earned her Ph.D. in 2010 in Applied Social Psychology at Colorado State University. Dr. Wood’s background is on positive youth development, delinquency prevention, community psychology, and conflict resolution – all areas that make her a great fit for the CDCI.

She has applied expertise in interdisciplinary program evaluation and research methods focused on children and adolescents who are at-risk. After earning her doctorate she worked for Vermont’s state child welfare agency (Department for Children and Families, Family Services Division) and the Vermont Department of Mental Health. Both positions were focused on program evaluation, quality improvement, and statistical analyses.

Valerie also works as the Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Child Welfare Training Partnership, in the Department of Social Work within the College of Education and Social Services.
