Autistic Clinician and Parent

Occupation: Neurodivergent family physician with particular area of concentration in providing primary care to neurodivergent children and entire families.

Other interests: Promoting true social inclusion of children with neurodevelopmental differences, school collaboration and advocacy, and teaching children of all neurotypes to understand and celebrate their brains -- and the brains of those around them. Melissa hosts a pro-neurodiversity resource website (http://www.allbrainsareawesome.com) and the All Brains Are Awesome Youtube station featuring neuro-education videos for young children about the wide range of ways that brains learn, think, play, and communicate.

Role on the Collaborative: Melissa wears several hats, contributing feedback on new and existing research protocols as a parent, community clinician, and from her own brain's life experiences. She is particularly passionate about promoting inclusive language, sensory/regulation supports, and attention to the subtle details that define the accessibility and comfort of a research participant's experience.

Melissa Houser: a white woman in her early forties, with chestnut-brown straight hair in a bob, ends curling under her chin. She smiles closed-mouth at the camera.
