Autism Assessment Clinic in the Vermont Center for Children, Youth and Families

The Autism Assessment Clinic is the only University-affiliated multidisciplinary diagnostic clinic in the State of Vermont for autism spectrum disorder. They strive to offer comprehensive assessments using a family-based approach incorporating evidenced-based evaluation tools. A team evaluation generally includes a child psychiatrist, a child psychologist, and a speech-language pathologist.

UVM Medical Center Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics

Within the University of Vermont Children's Hospital, the Pediatric Developmental Evaluation Program has, "Developmental evaluation teams (that) specialize in the diagnosis of children with developmental disabilities." This first team is composed of specialists that serve children aged zero to eight and is located at 1 South Prospect Street in Burlington. The team is comprised of various experts, including social workers, speech/language pathologists, psychologists, and many others.

Autism, Advocacy and Intervention (AAI)

AAI aims to provide child success through personalized early intervention and applied behavior analysis in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Weekly service hours range form 10 to 40 hours per week incorporating parent involvement for some of the time. More information and referral contact information can be found on their website.

Green Mountain Behavior Consulting, LLC.

Green Mountain Behavior Consulting, LLC. is based out of Montpelier, VT and services children in grades K-12 generally. They also have a division called Seeds of Change Center for Early Intervention that provides Applied Behavior Analysis for children with autism, ages two to six. Call Green Mountain Behavior Consulting, LLC. (802-793-8307) or Seeds of Change (802-223-6500) for more information or to schedule a visit. Sessions are now being held in-person following safety guidelines directed by the Health Department.

Keene Perspectives, Autism and Behavioral Health Services 

"Keene Perspectives provides behavior analytic services using the principles of applied behavior analysis to facilitate learning and social development, particularly for people with autism spectrum disorders... in direct 1:1 and small groups." This organization offers support to children and families in the Upper Valley and VT and NH.

Mosaic Learning Center

The Mosaic Learning Center Schools based in Colchester, VT aims to, "Create meaningful and vibrant programs for students with developmental disabilities." They vow to create a unique learning experience based on the child and families' needs while using applied behavioral analysis techniques.

SD Associates LLC

SD Associates are committed to providing behavioral services for individuals with Autism and other disabilities. They employ approximately 60 behavioral instructors that offer assessments, consultations, training, and direct services.

Kids' Rehab Gym (Physical & Occupational Therapy)

The Kids' Rehab Gym offers a community environment that provides physical and occupational therapy to children. Physical therapy focuses on play-based intervention to maximize functional independence and occupational therapy focuses on achieving success and independence in daily life. Physical therapists, Andrea Buteau, PT, DPT, PCS and Leah Murdock, PT, DPT, PCS, are both UVM alumni currently working there.

VOICE AAC Center

Voice Output Independence Consultation Evaluation (VOICE) helps to provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) for people with limited or no natural speech and/or those whose speech is not functional for them. Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) work with children and young adults up to the age of 22. The Center on Disability and Community Inclusion is committed to working across campus, and the community, to improve resources and facilities for all. Children's Integrated Services (CIS) & Help Me Grow Vermont

"CIS offers early intervention, family support, and prevention services that help ensure the healthy development and well-being of children, pre-birth to age 5.  Services are available at low or no cost to families." CIS is under Vermont's Department for Children and Families. Help Me Grow Vermont acts as an entry pint to CIS by providing free screening and coordination of care to other recommended providers.

Imagination Station

The Imagination Station is a sensory room known as a Snoezelen Room, which is the only of its kind in Vermont. This sensory room is meant to be a space where kids on the autism spectrum can create their own individualized environments. The room can be booked from 9:00-3:30, M-F, in 1-hour blocks to those who have undergone training. Cost and more information on training/booking can be found on their website.

"The Agency of Education (AOE) handles making sure that federal and Vermont state regulations are followed so that students with disabilities can have access to a free and appropriate public education (FAPE)." Vermont Autism Task Force offers clinical services, resources, education, events, and opportunitties for self-advocacy. Services are geared toward all ages and includes family. They hope to improve policy and deliver best practice methods in an inclusive way.

The Vermont Family Network is a wonderful family support network compromised of families of children with disabilities or special health needs. All conversations are confidential, and services are free. Some of their services include financial aid, parental support systems, training workshops, and an interactive calendar of upcoming events that may be of interest. Kayla’s Directory is a Vermont, “Central and comprehensive online directory of community resources to assist the families of special needs children in locating and accessing services.” They strive to purchase adaptive equipment for local community spaces, program affordable educational and recreational events, and create inclusive venues for all children. Partners in Adventure 

Partners in Adventure offers, “Year-round programs for young people with and without disabilities fostering friendship, independent and building of self-esteem.” The program is located in Chittenden County, Vermont. Programs range from summer camps to exercise and social events on Fridays and Saturdays.

Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) provides, "A wide-variety of office and community-based services, as well as school and home-based services for children and their families living with mental illness."
