During your UVM career, you may take courses in several of these disciplines and narrow down your choice of major later. What unifies these departments is a deep commitment to faculty and student research. At UVM, you develop strong relationships with faculty mentors who are leaders in their fields, devoted to tackling some of today’s most critical challenges on a local and global scale. At the same time, faculty will provide you with opportunities to conduct meaningful research as an undergraduate, an increasingly rare occurrence in higher education today.
Welcome to the Social Sciences Center at UVM, a new cross-disciplinary initiative that brings together perspectives on diverse and complex questions related to human societies and behavior. The departments of anthropology, economics, geography, political science, psychological sciences and sociology all focus on how human communities develop, how they are organized, and how they are shaped by individuals.
