Dance Program – Auditions, part 1

Come prepared to learn new dance sequences and improvisational structures. Emphasis on creating a comfortable environment where everybody can have fun and show the best of themselves!

Auditions for the following projects:
• DNCE 175 Dance Repertory: Faculty member Julian Barnett will set a new dance work on students; to be performed in the annual spring Dancing Uphill concert (see spring event listing below).
• DNCE 177 Site Performance Practicum: Faculty member Paula Higa will direct a new site specific performance that will be created and performed in the fall semester (see event listing below).
• Dance projects created by composition students enrolled in DNCE 160.

• Dance faculty member Paul Besaw, with Middlebury College faculty member Lida Winfield, on a Middlebury College/University of Vermont collaboration (students from both campuses performing together)

Highlighting UVM dance student performers, the concert includes choreography by UVM dance faculty, UVM composition students, and professional guest dance artists. The show will include works by dance faculty Julian Barnett and Paul Besaw, and feature the work of guest artists Miguel Gutierrez and Lida Winfield. Directed by Besaw; technical direction and design coordination by Bert Crosby.

American College Dance Association 2020

UVM is co-hosting the major regional dance conference. We need students to help organize and work the event. Students, faculty, and staff will also participate; student work from UVM will be presented and students will take part in a whole array of master classes.
