Lecturer

Sarah Richter is a PhD candidate in Art History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign working on her dissertation entitled Life in the Afterimage: Embodied Performance in the Work of Carrie Mae Weems, Delphine Fawundu, and Renee Stout.  A native of Wilmington, NC, Sarah received her BA from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2010 and her MA in Art History and Visual Culture from Richmond, the American International University in London. Her research interests include modern and contemporary African and African diasporic culture, photography, performance art, the intersections of race, gender, and racial capitalism.
