For over 4 decades, aspiring horse people have honed their experience and skills working at this one-of-a-kind equine insitution.  

The Morgan Horse Farm has been supported by Apprentices since the early 1970s, and now proudly offers equine science internships through the University of Vermont. 

In addition, the Morgan Horse Farm works with multiple UVM departments including Animal and Veterinary Science to provide experiential learning in Weybridge. Check out these photos from the Fall 2022 Equine Clinical Topics course. 

Apprenticeship

Well over 200 apprentices having completed the UVM Morgan Horse Farm apprenticeship program since its conception in the early 1970’s. Motivated participants utilize their experience to build a foundation for a career in the quine industry.

Apprentices can expect:
  • Approximate 45 hour work week with 2 days off
  • Paid hourly stipend
  • On-site housing, utilities included
  • Recommended year-long commitment

Apprenticeship Inquiries

Internships 

Inernships are offered in several formats, some eligible for credit through UVM.

Applications for equine educational programs are accepted on a rolling basis. Interested individuals should reach out to the UVM Morgan Horse Farm for more information.

Equine Internship Inquiries

As a national historic site and popular Vermont tourism attraction, the Morgan Horse Farm is also a resource for educational opportunities outside animal science, including tourism, historic preservation, community developmnent, and natural sciences. Email for more informaiton. 

Additional Internship Inquiries

The semester-long internship is credit-eligible through UVM. Candidates may apply to either a spring or fall semester.

A suggested apprentice term is 12 months, and candidates are accepting on a rolling schedule.
