Lucio Costa Proenca, Ph.D. Student, L4E Fellow

Born and raised in Florianopolis, Southern Brazil, Lucio graduated in environmental engineering in 2011 and moved to Brasilia in 2012 to work at the Ministry of the Environment. In search of more systemic, just, and inspiring perspectives of economics for policymaking, he obtained a MA in Economics for Transition at Schumacher College in 2019.

Lucio inquiries on how heterodox economic perspectives, such as ecological economics and Degrowth, can inform environmental policy. He is also an agroforestry enthusiast interested in policies that enable land regeneration and right livelihood for farmers dedicated to complex and biodiverse agroecological systems.
