Jeannine Valcour, Ph.D. Student

Jeannine Valcour is a native Vermonter who was raised on a dairy farm and who has come back to her hometown.  She returns to Vermont after gaining 20+ years of experience developing, managing, and evaluating capacity-building and research projects both in the US and globally.  At the University of Arizona, Jeannine managed cross-border programs aimed at increasing cultural competence and diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare fields and managed the Hispanic Center of Excellence. She more recently served as Knowledge Manager and Program Developer for the Institute for Sustainable Communities and as the Research Coordinator for the Gund Institute for Environment at UVM.  Currently, Jeannine works on UVM’s Research Development team specializing in developing large, interdisciplinary, federal proposals focused on topics of sustainability and the environment.  She holds an MBA and master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Arizona where her thesis work focused on vulnerability to climate change in Central America. Jeannine’s doctoral research will focus on food and water security, land use change, and climate resilience.
