Ben Ryan, Ph.D. Student

Upon graduating from the University of Vermont with a BS in Community and International Development, Ben began working for an international education non-profit, Wells Mountain Initiative as development and communications coordinator. Since graduating, Ben has played a coordinating role for the UVM Institute for Environmental Diplomacy and Security. Most recently, he is involved in the Transboundary Water In-Cooperation Network, which is dedicated to addressing water quality and access for communities caught in conflict through science diplomacy. As a native Vermonter, Ben has hopes of bringing greater wellbeing and understanding to communities here and beyond.

His research focus is on motivating sustainable agricultural practices using AI-driven information technology and monetary incentives.  The impacts of this research extend beyond the study locations of Vermont and South Dakota, with global implications in developing empirically-based sustainable policy and innovations.
