All nominees for individual awards must be active regular staff employees and employed in CALS for at least one year. This includes all eligible employees across CALS' six academic departments (ASCI, CDAE, NFS, MMG, PBIO, PSS) and Extension, both in the field or on campus. The review committee will be looking for evidence of how employees have made clear contributions to the mission of CALS and/or Extension. Past recipients are ineligible. Past nominees are eligible, but must be re-nominated. Materials need to be re-submitted and appropriately updated.
Team nominations should primarily include individuals who meet the above eligibility criteria; however, teams that include temporary or part-time employees, or employees with less than one year of service, will also be considered.
Due to feedback from past review committees, we simplified the nomination forms and process. Anyone wishing to nominate an individual or team for these awards should submit the appropriate nomination form (CALS Excellence in Staff Support Nomination Form, CALS Excellence in Teamwork Nomination Form). Any CALS/Extension faculty, staff member or trainee (student, postdoctoral fellow) is welcome to submit a nomination. Providing specific examples makes an impact with the review committee. Because the nomination process is now so simple, we ask that each nominator fill out their own form instead of many signing onto one nomination. Do not provide separate letters of recommendation; all relevant information should be entered onto the expandable nomination form provided via the links above. Please submit the electronic, fillable PDF (do not submit a scan or copy).
Nominations are due by Monday, August 17. Please submit all nominations to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Criteria for Evaluation of Submissions
The Committee will evaluate the nomination forms for evidence of sustained excellence in staff support activities, as follows:
- High quality work that exceeds expectations
- Superb collaborative skills (especially for team award)
- Positive attitude or characteristics that resulted in tangible improvements
- Creative approaches that brought about new efficiencies or other positive changes
- Leadership on “getting things done”
- ANYTHING else you believe equates with exceptional and laudable work
CALS Dean, Extension’s Associate Director, several willing faculty and previous staff award winners will review and choose the awardees, based on the nominations submitted.
