Dr. Laber retired in June of 1996. He came to UVM in 1968 after a year with the Economic Development Administration in Washington, D.C. His primary areas of teaching and research are Corporate Finance, Public Utilities and Applied Microeconomics. His consulting activities have included several industrial and governmental institutions. He is the past chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vermont Municipal Bond Bank. Dr. Laber has testified as an expert on rate of return and rate design before public utility commissions in Vermont, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Alaska, and Connecticut. His research has dealt with utility regulation and, bond markets. His publications include articles in the Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Review of Economics and Business, Journal of Regional Science, Journal of Risk and Insurance, Financial Management and the Journal of Economics and Business. Dr. Laber was awarded the MBA Outstanding Teaching Award in 1991.
