The University of Vermont is one of the nation's premier small research universities. Our size and culture give students a unique advantage. There is a world of opportunity here that's not available at smaller schools — and isn't accessible at larger ones.

Challenging academics

There are no limits to the academic challenge UVM offers students — spanning nearly 100 majors. Courses are taught by top scholars who are also master teachers. Senior theses, capstone projects and other activities woven into the curricula of our seven undergraduate schools and colleges push students to find new limits. An Honors College offers further academic rigor for exceptionally high achieving students.

A culture of learning by doing

Academics at UVM are supplemented and deepened by travel study, service-learning, and a huge array of internships in locations ranging from Vermont to China. Undergraduates also assist faculty with their groundbreaking research in over 150 separate research labs across campus, including UVM's highly ranked medical school.
