Course Description: Provides students a basic understanding of professional business communications. Prerequisite: Business Administration major; First-year/Sophomore standing.
Section Description: This course will begin to develop the necessary written, visual and oral presentation skills for effective and efficient business communications. Students will produce reports, press releases, posters, and oral presentations both individually and in groups. Organization, concision, and professional tone are emphasized. Basic skills (e.g., grammar, word usage, sentence structure) will be addressed as required. Students will complete the course with an improved ability to communicate ideas convincingly through a variety of assignments. BSAD 015 will be closely coordinated with BSAD 02 and 10, meaning that students should be enrolled in all three courses for Fall 2019. Course content and skills will overlap, so poor performance in one class will likely result in poor performance in the others. Business Communications is, at times, fast-paced, where some assignments have a quick turn-around from introduction to final product. This requires students to be organized, manage their time effectively, and to communicate effectively when working in groups.
