PHYS 125 – Physics for Engineers II

Credits: 3.00

Course Description: Electricity, magnetism, electromagnetic waves, optics. Without lab. Accompanying optional problem-solving session: PHYS 123. Prerequisites: PHYS 031 and MATH 022 or MATH 023; concurrent enrollment in MATH 121.

Section Description: Physics 125A, Physics for Engineers II, is the continuation course to Physics 31, Physics for Engineers I. Physics 125 builds on the Newtonian conceptual framework developed in Physics 31 to show how these ideas extend to Electricity & Magnetism, Electric Circuits, Electromagnetic Waves and Optical systems. Emphasis will be on learning how to understand these topics both qualitatively and quantitatively in the sense that students will be presented with typical engineering problems that will require calculus-based mathematical solutions:
