PRNU 110 – Art & Science of Nursing

Course Description: Ways of knowing that contribute to the professional nurse's understanding of the human experience of health are explored within the context of environment and culture. Pre/co-requisites: One course in Sociology, PSYS 001, ENGS 001.

Section Description: PRNU 110 introduces students to the foundational concepts and practices of the nursing profession. Emphasis is placed on the evolution of nursing as a profession, the variety of nursing roles, the legal and ethical aspects of practice, and the nurse’s role in delivering quality care. Selected theories applicable to nursing and health care, the role of inquiry in practice, and holistic nursing practice will also be explored
