Course Description: A course which is tailored to fit the interests of a specific student, which occurs outside the traditional classroom/laboratory setting under the supervision of a faculty member, for which credit is awarded. Offered at department discretion. Prerequisite: Agreement from a faculty sponsor and approval by the Baccalaureate Education Committee.
Section Description: Overview: Students taking this independent study course have already received IRB approval for a qualitative research study and begun online data collection. In this course, students will continue data collection and begin data analysis. Students will use a predetermined qualitative methodology for data analysis. Students will be expected to submit an application to present a poster at the Ziegler Research Forum at the end of the semester. Objectives: At the end of this semester, students will be able to: 1. Describe steps related to data analysis for their selected qualitative method. 2. Identify strategies to protect participant confidentiality when collecting data online. 3. Demonstrate reflexivity through journaling, discussion, and reflection papers. 4. Discuss preliminary qualitative findings.
