PRNU 132 – Child & Adoles Nurs:Thry & Ptm

Course Description: Through classroom and practicum, students learn essential nursing interventions for children/adolescents/ families experiencing health alterations. Prerequisites: PRNU 128, PRNU 129, NURS 120. Pre/co-requisite: PRNU 131.

Section Description: In this pediatric clinical experience student nurses are primarily assigned school nurse preceptors in schools located in Chittenden County as well as neighboring counties. This experience provides a rich learning environment for acute and chronic health needs, as well as opportunities to promote health to individuals and groups of students. Nursing students are in the school from 8 - 2, and have post-clinical discussion back on campus for 90 minutes, on either Tuesday or Thursday. There is potential for other community assignments.
