PRNU 110 – Art & Science of Nursing

Course Description: Ways of knowing that contribute to the professional nurse's understanding of the human experience of health are explored within the context of environment and culture. Pre/co-requisites: One course in Sociology, PSYS 001, ENGS 001.

Section Description: PRNU 110 introduces students to the foundational concepts and practices of the nursing profession. Ways of knowing that contribute to the professional nurse’s understanding of the human experience of health are explored within the context of environment and culture. An emphasis is placed on the development of nursing as a profession, the variety of nursing practice roles, ethical decision making, the impact of theory on practice, spirituality and competencies needed for the professional practice of nursing.
