Nick Stanton: Director, UVM Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity

Nick was appointed as Director for AAEO in 2017.  Prior to this, he served as the Title IX Coordinator.  Prior to his work at UVM, Nick practiced law in a variety of settings, focusing on civil rights, employment, and municipal law.  He received a J.D. from Vermont Law School and a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Johnson State College (Northern Vermont University).

Taryn Moran: Title IX Intake & Outreach Coordinator

Taryn works with all members of the UVM campus community on sexual misconduct and discrimination related issues by providing outreach, interim and protective measures, and referrals to appropriate resources.   Taryn also provides education and outreach to the UVM community for AAEO-related initiatives.  She previously worked as a Title IX investigator for UVM and the Vermont State Colleges, and she completed a four-year legal clerkship with Vermont Legal Aid.  Taryn holds a B.S. in Political Science from SUNY Oneonta and an M.A. in Public Administration and Leadership from SUNY Plattsburgh.

Emily McCarthy: Title IX Investigator

Emily investigates complaints of discrimination, harassment, and Title IX violations within the UVM community. Prior to working at UVM, Emily worked as a Deputy State’s Attorney in Chittenden County, where she prosecuted domestic and sexual assault cases. In that role, Emily worked closely with the Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations (CUSI). Emily earned a B.A. in History from the University of Colorado and a J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School.

Kate Spence: Investigator

Kate investigates complaints of alleged discrimination, harassment, and Title IX violations within the UVM community. Prior to working at UVM, Kate practiced law in a variety of non-profit settings, where she provided legal services to indigent persons experiencing domestic violence or housing insecurity, and investigated human rights violations in the areas of public employment, public accommodations, and housing.  Kate earned a B.A. in French Language and Literature from Barnard College, and and a J.D. from Northeastern School of Law.

Amber Fulcher: ADA/504 Coordinator

Amber coordinates faculty and staff accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and works on larger campus initiatives for accessibility and ADA compliance.
