| Chamela, Jalisco |
The
field
station
at Chamela, Jalisco, is situated on the Pacific coast of
Mexico a little north of the resort town of Manzanilla. This station
is run by the Instituto de Biología of the Universidad National
Autonoma de México. Like the other Pacific coast study sites, this is a strongly seasonal site with a dry season which the spiders survive by staying in the egg sac. This photograph was taken at the begining of the rainy season, before the trees and shrubs had leafed out. Spiders were only just beginning to emerge from their egg sacs. |
