Reflection Paper on Readings

Purposes:    1)      To give you the opportunity to reflect on the readings in a little more depth;
2)
to give you practice in communicating intangible or complex ideas and feelings; and,
3)      to help you discover a bit more about yourself in relation to your environmentally related life goals.

Assignment:

             Reflect on the readings.  Identify the ones that were most meaningful to you.  Why were they meaningful?  Could you relate to the author/subject?  Do they influence, resonate with or perhaps clash with your environmental philosophy and/or life plans?  Did they make you think about something you hadn’t before?  Were they inspiring?  Intimidating?  Ho-hum?

            Write a 2-3 page paper (double-spaced) on your personal reflections on any or all of the readings.   You need not include a bibliography, but be clear and specific when you quote or reference a given article.   Your tone should be personal, but intended for an external audience.  Strive to organize your thoughts to communicate your ideas effectively.

            An essay format is appropriate.  Or, if you are inspired to do so, feel free to be creative in format, e.g. write a letter to one or more of the people you read about, write an interview with yourself asking for your reaction to the articles, write a poem (2-3 pages long), write a dialogue of an imaginary reading group that involves several of the people you read about, including yourself.  Just make sure your reflections on the readings shine through.  Don’t write yourself out of the picture.
