Get Outside!

Every UVM student is a member of the Outing Club! We openly invite all UVM students to come to the OC house, sign up for a trip, eat some food and stay for a meeting!

Founded in 1932, the mission of the University of Vermont Outing Club is to provide affordable wilderness trips, instruction, leadership training and certification opportunities for students. We also provide a comprehensive array of affordable rental equipment to the UVM community. It is our further goal to promote enjoyment, safe use and responsible stewardship of the environments we travel in through practice of Leave No Trace principles.

Catamountain Classic - September 8th & 9th 2012

The 1st Annual Catamountain Classic is a community event involving about forty clubs, organizations, groups on campus! The goal is to hike the entirety of the Long Trail in one weekend! Each organization will be assigned a predetermined section of the 273-mile Long Trail! Routes will vary in difficulty and mileage and reflect the requests of the clubs participating. The clubs will be responsible for recruiting a hiking team of between four and ten people. The Catamountain Classic is a school event that's bound to become a college tradition like no other!
