Overview of the Goals & Objectives of the Campus Gender Violence Project

Campus Grant: 2000-2002
Goal 1: Strengthen comprehensive violence against women prevention programs on campus.

  • Objective 1: Enhance the community-based Paradigm Project and connect it to the UVM campus through education and training.
  • Objective 2: Enhance the Peer Education Theater Project for orientation and throughout the academic year.
  • Objective 3: Conduct focus groups to identify specific concerns and needs of the ALANA community on issues of violence against women.

Goal 2: Establish a comprehensive campus-based advocacy program offering services to victims of sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking.

  • Objective 1: Create a campus-based Advocacy Program in the Women’s Center to improve coordination of services on campus for victims of sexual assault, stalking and relationship violence.
  • Objective 2: Create an Interdisciplinary Coordinated Response Team (ICRT) comprised of campus and community organizations to improve services.

Campus Grant 2002-2004
Goal 1: Strengthen the coordinated community response to violence against women on campus.

  • Objective 1: Create a Gender Violence Response Team to develop and implement strategies that advocate for a campus culture that has zero tolerance for the perpetration of gender violence; enhance resources and services available to victims of sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking; and provide education on gender violence to the campus community.
  • Objective 2: Expand the campus-based advocacy program, located in the Women’s Center to meet the needs of victims of sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking.

Goal 2: Strengthen comprehensive violence against women prevention programs on campus.

  • Objective 1: Conduct a series of focus groups with student leaders from athletics, Greek Life and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning (LGBTQ) to identify specific concerns and needs on issues of relationship violence, stalking and sexual assault.
  • Objective 2: Strengthen and formalize collaboration and prevention efforts between the university campus and community-based Paradigm Project.

Campus Grant 2004-2006
Goal 1: Strengthen the coordinated community response to violence against women on campus.

  • Objective 1: Improve the UVM campus’ reporting infrastructure to address needs of survivors and reinforce perpetrator accountability.
  • Objective 2: Systematize education and training efforts through the Campus Advocacy Program

Goal 2: Strengthen comprehensive violence against women campus prevention programs.

  • Objective 1: Develop campus-based culturally sensitive resources addressing gender violence.
  • Objective 2: Expand collaboration and prevention efforts between the university CGVP and Women’s Rape Crisis Center (WRCC).
