A Web Page is a simple compound document. Each piece of the document is either a text or picture file and has a unique "address," or "Uniform Resource Locator" which uniquely identifies this piece on the internet.
The text part of the page is simple "human readable" text interspaced with format/layout directives. These directives adhere to a convention called HTML.
