William Shelton

William C. Shelton
10th Cavalry, Troop B, U.S. Army

William C. Shelton was born Chattanooga, Tennessee on Oct. 15, 1887. His father, William Shelton, was born October 1863 in Virginia and worked as a clerk in a post office in Hamilton, Tennessee in 1900 (1900 Tenn. census). His mother, Emma, was born September 1865 in Georgia.

He married Lillian Monroe when he was 24. Lillian is the mother-in-law of Sgt. George Osborne. William worked as woolen spinner at the American Woolen Mill, Winooski, VT prior to the start of WWI.

During WW1 he was with a private in the 21 RCT Co.

William May 23, 1933 and is buried at Green Mount Cemetery, Colchester Avenue, Burlington, VT.
