Tourette Syndrome and Tics Disorder Specialty Service

The Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorder Specialty Service specializes in the treatment of tic disorders, Tourette Syndrome, and related disorders for children, adolescents, and adults. Treatment is provided by pre-doctoral clinicians with supervision by a licensed clinical psychologist. We offer comprehensive psychological and behavioral assessments, and provide the latest evidence-based, non-pharmacological treatments available to help manage tics and related behaviors. Our service focuses on clinician-guided, research-based therapy. The core components of this treatment include:

  • Psycho-education for tic and related disorders
  • Functional analysis to address environmental factors that increase the frequency of tics
  • Awareness training to recognize the urge to tic
  • Competing response training to reduce tics and associated impairment
  • Relaxation training to reduce the stress and anxiety associated with tics

For more information about the treatment provided, please review the Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) Brochure
