On March 7, 2006 the city of Burlington, Vermont utilized an instant run off voting system (IRV) to select its mayor. Since then The Vermont Legislative Research Shop has formulated a report on the election based on its own independent exit polling and VLRS supervisor Professor Anthony Gierzynski has published a case study in Campaigns & Elections magazine examining the election.
