The Vermont Community Foundation is a philanthropic resource whose purpose is, as our mission statement says, "to identify emerging issues and underserved populations that will benefit most from private charitable funds."
Like everyone else, The Vermont Community Foundation wants to use its money wisely.
We aim to be a catalyst, providing funds to help non-profit organizations explore or undertake new work or do more effectively what they are already doing. Thus we emphasize one-time grants rather than continuing support.
Our grants, in general, are small, and we seldom fund an entire project. Our expectations are high, however. We favor projects that bring people and resources together to solve a problem, meet a need, and have a lasting impact.
