UVM Student Veteran Services

About Us

The annual Veterans Day commemoration begins early each year, when students fill the green with American flags, each representing a fallen service member from September 11, 2001 to present. Student Veterans and their supporters are an active part of UVM campus life.

University of Vermont - Student Veteran Services

UVM Student Veteran Services is a part of the Division of Enrollment Management and is composed of the Veterans Assistance Committee (VAC), the School Certifying Official (SCO) / Coordinator of Student Veteran Services, and the Student Veterans Organization (SVO).
Veterans Assistance Committee

The VAC is a diverse, campus-wide group of UVM staff members who are committed to providing the best possible support to our student veterans. The VAC meets twice per semester to determine areas of improvement and/or to increase support that is needed on campus.  In the past, they have coordinated a separate orientation / welcome event for student veterans and helped plan and support the annual Veterans Day celebration. The VAC also has a strong ROTC cadre membership to support cadets' success as future Army Officers.  Many VAC staff members are available to provide support for student veterans.

School Certifying Official / Coodinator of Student Veteran Services

The SCO works to coordinate student veteran services on campus and processes all requests for certification of enrollment through the Department of Veterans Affairs.  The SCO is a dedicated resource who brings together all of the supports available both on and off campus to direct students, faculty, and staff to appropriate resources so they are able to navigate complex VA and other support systems.

Student Veterans Organization

SVO is a Student Government Association recognized group and chapter of Student Veterans of America.  SVO is made successful by by a dedicated group of active student veterans and others who contribute to and advocate for services available to student veterans on campus.  Students interested in membership information or contributing to SVO may contact Ryan Britch, President, SVO at

Together UVM Student Veteran Services strives to provide the highest level of service and support to student veterans at the University of Vermont, keeping in mind the student experience at all times.  Please feel free to reach out to us at with questions or comments.  If you had a great experience or we could do something differently or better, let us know!
