The VACC is investing in education and outreach to develop next generation computing knowledge throughout UVM and Vermont. A significant barrier to users is the steep learning curve and the time and effort expenditures involved in using High Performance Computing (HPC). Reaching out to users is an essential part of the mission of the VACC. To increase the adoption of HPC and user access at the VACC, the outreach team will offer three levels of exposure to the research community: one on one instruction, workshops, and a website with guides and instruction. The vision is user centric, and the implementation is user-driven with the goal to enhance the research and educational capabilities of users. Through workshops and personal interactions, the VACC will reach out to users not only at UVM, but also to other Vermont educational communities such as other colleges and even K-12 programs. The VACC will directly contribute to the research infrastructure by enhancing the research competitiveness of Vermont researchers and students.
