Article I.
Womyn of Color
Article II.
Women are oppressed by men regardless of race and/or ethnicity, but women of color in addition to sexism also have to deal with racism on an every day existence.
|||||Section 1. The purpose of this organization is to unite and provide a safe space for informal support for students to discuss various issues that oppress and affect women of color.
|||||Section 2. The major goals of this organization are to create a safe place where we can discuss and unite against issues of heterosexism, ableism, ageism, capitalism, religionism, sexism, and racism.
Womyn of Color will provide leadership skills, knowledge of self-empowerment, information on world issues, encouragement, and self-determination.
Article III.
Members of Womyn of Color are expected to serve as a support network for each other. All members of Womyn of Color are required to put forth a personal effort towards diversity/multi-cultural education and cultural etiquette.
Article IV.
There will be no officers; each individual member will be expected to contribute support in the area that best fits their talent. For SGA business purposes, there will be two representatives chosen once a year at every retreat.
|||||Section 1. Each SGA Representative chosen will have to be knowledgeable about SGA policies and processes.
|||||Section 2. Each Representative must consult the group on all actions made involving money or important decisions that will affect the group directly.
Article V.
Meeting times will be announced in the monthly newsletter as well as agenda's.
Article VI.
Committees will be formed as needed.
Article VII.
Amendments can only be made at the Womyn of Color Retreat. In any case, at least fifty percent of new and old members will have to be in agreement. therefore, the Constitution may only be changed in the form of Amendments.
Article VIII.
At the meeting, members will always participate in the order set below:
A. Members will participate in at least one group "icebreaker" or game (no longer than fifteen minutes).
B. one by one, members will express how they are surviving.
C. Entries for the newsletter will be handed in.
D. Two people will be appointed to type up the newsletter each month.
E. Someone must be available to recite old business and record new business.
F. Each person will contribute their article/s of new business after old business is finalized.
