Is this a team or group project?

Only 1 person — a student (not your faculty research mentor) — from your team or group should register for the conference. (The names of all co-presenters will be included, with no preference for the person who has registered the team or group.)

If you are NOT the designated person for your team or group, then do NOT submit a registration.

Do you have an abstract?

An abstract — a brief summary (no more than 300 words) of your project — is required on the registration form. You will paste the text of your abstract into a text field in the form.

You are expected to submit your abstract to your research mentor for review. Based on your mentor's feedback, you are expected to revise your abstract, if necessary.

Do you have a faculty research mentor? Do you know his or her UVM NetID?

The UVM NetID of your faculty research mentor is a required field on the registration form. If you don't already know it, please look it up in the UVM Directory.

If you have more than one faculty research mentor, you will enter the NetID of the mentor you prefer as our primary contact. (Don't worry — there is also a place to enter the names of your other mentors.) As appropriate, and in coordination with alerts you will receive before the conference, your faculty research mentor may be: (a) contacted as to the status of your registration, and (b) required to submit confirmation of your conference preparation.

What format and time block should you choose?

FORMAT — Which presentation format is right for me?
Much of the choice of presentation format is based on personal preference, but often you can receive guidance on this topic from your faculty research mentor. Different formats may be of more or less value based on your past experience, your discipline, and so on. For more information regarding the individual presentation styles, please see our Creative Presentation, Lightning Talk, Oral Presentation and Poster pages.

Note: Regardless of presentation style, remember to acknowledge any funding award or organization, source of significant contribution or editing, research group, faculty, etc. This is not just being nice, instead it is an important part of being a researcher.

TIME BLOCK — What time is it best for me to present?
The Student Research Conference is held on a Thursday (April 27, 2017). You are given the option of a Morning or Afternoon time slot. These time slots are then broken down depending on your presentation format:
