Greetings to all! A few folks sent me news via email, and those emails
were deleted by accident. If you sent me an email message, and you dont
see your news in the column, please resend it. Sorry about that. Adam
Page wrote that he and his wife, Kelly, welcomed their daughter, Lillian
(Lilly) Grace Page on February 22, 2001. Adam graduated from Boston College
Law School in 1998, and he is a corporate attorney with Gadsby Hannah
LLP in Boston. They live in Newburyport, Mass. On September 3, 2001, Kendall
McCauley Manzo and husband Patrick welcomed their first child, John Patrick
(Jack) Manzo. Following Jacks arrival, Kendall resigned her position
as director of alumni relations at Milton Academy to stay at home full
time, and shes never been happier. The Manzos are currently living
in Boston. Kurt Weisenfluh is living in Larchmont, N.Y. He and his wife
of eight years, Maura (Meskill) have two healthy boys, Matt and Owen.
They keep Kurt and Maura on their toes. Maura is a real estate salesperson
for Julia B Fee, and Kurt is a bond trader working for Merrill Lynch &
Co. in New York City. John and Anne (91) Lucey announced the birth
of their daughter, Danielle, on September 27, 2001. She was born on her
Dads birthday. Sharon Winter Donahue teaches reading recovery as
well as one session of kindergarten at Bristol Elementary School in Bristol,
Vt. She is taking a reading recovery course at UVM this year. Heather
Schermerhan King of Charlotte, Vt., married Brian King of Reading, Mass.
They have two children, Pembroke and Trenton. Heather is an event manager
at Castle Hill in Ipswich, Mass. Michele Keefe Martin and husband Philip
of Williston, Vt., welcomed their son, Noah, on July 31, 2001. Robert
Rosen is working as a strategic media consultant at the Department of
Defense in Washington, D.C.

Themarge McLellan Small, a med student at UCLA, and her husband, John,
a project manager at Western Allied Corporation, are enjoying being the
parents of daughter Isabelle Maireed McLellan Small, who was born March
14, 2001. They are blissfully" living in Pasadena and
would love to hear from old friends. Their email address is tsmall@ucla.edu.
John Quinn, the executive director for ACT, Action for Community Transformation,
a Washington, D.C., based non-profit organization, was tragically killed
on August 25, 2001, by a Honduran gang member. John had been organizing
a scholarship fund for low-income secondary school youth, working on AIDS/HIV
prevention with local health workers, and establishing a neighborhood
soccer club. The John O. Quinn Scholarship Fund will award grants to secondary
school students in Honduras. Deanna Damiano Bastianich and her husband,
Joseph, are proud to announce the birth of their third child, Ethan Alexander,
born November 8, 2001. They live in Greenwich, Conn., with their daughter,
Olivia, and sons Miles and Ethan. Living in Columbus, Ohio, Karen Shore
Meyer is a stay-at-home mom of two: Sydney and Max. She recalls how much
fun our reunion was last June. Liz Katz and her partner, Letitia, let
us know that they are expecting their first child. Stephen Mayhew of Bloomfield,
N.J., graduated from Seton Hall Law School in June 2000. He has been working
as a law clerk for a family court judge but hopes to find a job as an
associate in a firm practicing civil law. Dr. Connie Hunt is the behavioral
health consultant for the Pacific Northwest region of Indian Health Services.
An enrolled Puyallup tribal member, she works in both mental health and
chemical dependency. Susan Langenheim of Windsor, Mass., wrote that Tara
Fleming Patterson and her husband, Rob, are the proud new parents of Emma
Katherine, who was born in September. The Pattersons live in North Carolina.
Tammy Cousino married Randy Lear on May 14, 2000, in New Haven, Vt. Last
February, they welcomed Jack Randall Lear, and he is a joy.
Tammy works part time as a physical therapist. She keeps in touch with
Heather Matthew Dibenedetto, who lives in Boston, and Carolyn Gagne Hoffman,
who lives in Maine with her husband, Eric, and their two children. Bryan
Biederman and his wife, Elaine Adrian 90, spent a week out in Seattle
visiting Bryans UVM roommate, Chuck Tompkins, last October. They
had a great time catching up. Bryan and Elaine enjoy living in Palm Beach
Gardens, Fla., with their three children. He wrote, Last August,
we toured the UVM campus with two kiddy strollers. It was quite bizarre!
Steven Ratner wrote that he has expanded his Manhattan elder law practice
by opening an office in White Plains, N.Y. Eric Patel and his wife, Diana,
bought a house in Chelmsford, Mass., in September 2000. Eric works for
Nokia in Burlington, Mass., as a QA and test manager. Susan Grimes and
her husband, Chris, are the owners of the Stowehof Inn in Stowe, Vt. Susan
is a former teacher at St. Albans, Vt., Elementary School. Christopher
McCabe and his wife, Helen, have two daughters, Molly and Charlotte. He
is a vice president with WWF Entertainment in New York City. Jay (90)
and Heather Campbell Wager happily celebrated the first birthday of their
daughter, Amanda Starr, on January 6, 2002. Along with friends and family,
godparents Jim and Suzanne Sammis Cabot attended the party. Happy New
Year, everyone! Heres to a healthy and happy 2002. I know that many
of you read class notes to see what is happening with our classmates,
so now its your turn to send us a note so we can include you and
your news. By the time you are reading this issue, the deadline may have
already passed for the summer issue, so send your news right away to either

1992
I can tell its reunion time by the floods of information coming
in for this column. Weve tried to get it all in, but in case we
didnt, youd better come to our 10th reunion so you can talk
to people in person. Thanks for all the donations. We are well on our
way to hitting our class targets. Have a safe spring and hope to see you
all in May. Jodi Wing Flanagan and husband Dan wrote to say that they
have another baby, Gray, who was born September 5, 2001. They live in
Burke, Vt., with their other son, Yale, who adores the new baby. Jodi
looks forward to the reunion and hopes to see lots of old friends. Mark
Furr and Melanie Edwards 93 announced the birth of their first child,
Elise LeMoyne Furr, who was born June 3, 2001. Melanie is taking a year
off from teaching to stay home with Elise while Mark continues to work
as an engineer and project manager. He travels frequently, including trips
to projects in Guam and Poland. Gregory Hebert is currently teaching Americas
youth, which he self-proclaims to perhaps scare many. Danielle Trudeau
let us know that Maurisa Dietle Meyer lives in Keene, N.H. Our class president
Tom Gubbins and Jennifer Hatch were married on June 16, 2001, in Bridgton,
Maine. Many UVM alumni were in attendance, including Barry Scheff, John
and Jenny (91) Mason, Wayne Chadbourne, Chris Jones, Tod Wehse 91,
Russ Clark 91, Andrew Meyer, Peter Melnik 91, Nick Meyer,
Taylor Meyer, Kristin Rohrbach, Stephanie MacDonald 93, and Kate
Monglat. Dave Cote started a healthcare consulting business in 2000 upon
leaving Kaiser Permanente. He specializes in health insurance-related
matters, serving individuals, providers, and employers throughout Vermont.
Doug Gilman got together with Chris Lamson, Dave Wright 88, and
Scott Aldrich for a Red Sox game in Montreal last July. Capt. Jennifer
Swift wrote that she has just moved from Tokyo to Atlanta, where she is
attending graduate school at Georgia Tech. She wrote that it is great
to be back in America, and she is looking forward to seeing everyone at
reunion. John Woodard just celebrated his seventh anniversary at UNUM
Provident Corporation. He works in their Portland Customer Care Center
administering short-term disability claims for large case clients. Brian
and Kelly Tivnan are pleased to announce the birth of their first child,
Brendan Francis, on June 2, 2001. Stephanie Gray Meunier is an account
manager with IBM. She lives in Vermont with her husband, Jayson, and their
son, Jake. Stephanie regularly keeps in touch with Adri Phillips Ahmed
and Kerri OBrien Hayes. Kevin Schroeder and his wife have a new
daughter, Olivia, born on June 21, 2001. Kevin would like to congratulate
Gordie and Brooke Spater and Fred Schroeder and Jodi Rathburn on their
marriages, both of which took place on June 2, 2001. Cecil Hodges graduated
with a masters degree in nursing and will be working in a local
Hingham, Mass., clinic. Trina Harvey began a new job as a kindergarten
teacher for the Essex Junction, Vt., school system. Cecil wrote that Laurie
Szwez and her husband, Kirby, expect to have some happy news later this
year. Tammy Chase Brown welcomed her fourth son, Caleb, in October 2000.
Her family moved into a new log home in Westford, Vt., on January 1, 2001.
Cedric Charbin and his wife, Stacey, welcomed their son, Alexandre, into
the world on June 15, 2001. All three of them are happily living in Montreal,
Canada. Kim Schwarzkopf wrote that she had a baby on June 11, 2001. His
name is Kai Moss Clarke. Sarah Copeland Hanzas is busy raising her three
children and coaching high school field hockey and softball. She stays
in contact with Jenn Stone, who is a pilot with United Express. Jennifer
Schwartz now lives in Cambridge, Mass., happily working in a consulting
firm for private equity clients. Recently, she has been spending time
with classmate, Jackie Andre. She also reported that Andre Stabin is doing
well in New York City, still working at Merrill Lynch, and that Lisa Aserkoff,
an attorney in Washington, D.C., is busy assisting her mom in the planning
of Lisas wedding. Suzanne Faivre wrote that she was married on September
8, 2001, to Mark Cioffi in Montpelier, Vt. Her brothers, Sam 90
and Rob 87, were ushers. Her bridesmaids included Rachel Swartz
(91) Smith and Lauren Aines Collier. Suzanne wrote that she is now
related to her sophomore year roommate Trudy Aylward (93) Cioffi,
who is her new sister-in-law. Sarah Eddy Hart married Ian Hart on October
8, 2000. Ian is from Dartmouth, England. They welcomed a baby boy, Jackson
Robert Hart, into the world on July 20, 2001. The family makes their home
in Marblehead, Mass., and they are loving every minute of it. David Kotz
of Far Hills, N.J., received a write up in The Bernardsville News last
December. As a member of the Liberty Corner First Aid Squad, he was among
those who responded to a call from the parent of a 14-month-old child
who had fallen and struck her head. The parent was extremely grateful
to David and the others for their outstanding level of service.
1993
Kimberly Kleiman Lynch welcomed the birth of her second child, Gillian
Suzanne, in June 2001. She joins her big brother, Connor, in the familys
Bradford, Mass., home. Jennifer Sorenson Buddenhagen and her husband,
Erich, were married on June 23, 2001, on Block Island, R.I. Many UVM friends
were there, including Annie Newell, Elisa Magnotta, Tiffany Shannis 94,
Emily Farber, Andrea Langlais (94) Sleeper, Sam Crocker, Kevin Donaldson,
Tom McClutchy 94, and Kevin Sleeper. Jim Keller married Stephanie
Hirsch in Tenafly, N.J., on September 7, 2001. Ushers in the wedding included
Raj Bharwani, Peter Kim, and Jay Meadows 94. Jim and Stephanie thank
all of these UVMers, some of whom traveled thousands of miles, for joining
them in celebration of their marriage.
1994
Sara Cota Daly and husband Christopher welcomed their first child, Samuel,
on July 13, 2001. Sara is working as a physical therapist in Middlebury,
Vt., and Chris is the assistant to the golf pro at Middlebury College.
Sara wrote, We hope all is well with our UVM friends. Adam
Riley has relocated to Jackson Hole, Wyo., where he is a co-owner of Jackson
Hole Housewrights, builders of fine timber frame homes. He and Christina
Emde are planning a June 22 wedding atop Shadow Mountain, facing the Grand
Tetons. Muffy Lake wrote with tons of UVM news: Johanne Master 95
and Jon Aigneau are engaged. Perry Fatuova turned 30 in November, and
his wife, Rachel, threw a great party for him in their new home in New
Jersey. Fun alums who were there included Jon Bennis, Greg Finkle, Abby
and Tim OBrien, Ed Bien (home from China), Drew Shimomura, Brian
and Tara Cordino Gibbs, and Pete and Jill Gumkowski Vanderpot. Muffy also
recently got together in Charlotte, Vt., at the home of Deb and Eric Morris
with Beck Shattles, Chris Kimble, and Jen Gledhill. In December, Deb and
Eric had a baby girl named Alexandra Swenson Morris. Jenna Malone 95
is engaged and living in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Megan Stone Iampietro married
Dan Iampietro on October 14, 2000, in Connecticut. Megan worked in advertising
and marketing for more than five years and made a big career change two
years ago to education. Currently, she is teaching 3rd grade at a private
school in Greenwich, Conn., where they live. Megan will receive her masters
degree in education in May 2002. Cyndi Bholin wrote that Jodi VonMaffei
and Jen MacInnes both got engaged on the same day, the Saturday before
New Years Eve. They are both planning weddings in spring/summer
2003. Also, Melissa Gross got married on the same day, December 29, in
Boston at the Copley Plaza. There were many UVMers there. Some of the
UVM alums who were out and about over New Years Eve weekend in Burlington
included Narric Rome, Tyler Buck, Andy OConnell, Paul Zedlovich,
Lisa Goodrich 95, Jeffrey McNulty, Chris Rose 92, Carey Rose
93, and Kathryn Selig. Kathryn is a second-year law student at American
University in Washington, D.C. Chris Rose ran into Damon Kinsey 92,
his freshman-year Jeanne Mance roommate, at the Strangefolk show in Stowe.
Just some of the others rumored to be out in Burlington that weekend were
Phil Grant, Eric Hynes, Sam Weber, the Mahoney trio of Maura, Sarah 96,
and Christine 97, and Lindsey Cronin 97. Nancy Hardiman Drew
married Del Drew in May 1999. Nancy graduated from UMass med school the
next week and moved to Boston, where she completed her residency at Beth
Israel Deaconess Medical Center. While there, she ran into Erin Tremblay,
who is working in the anesthesia department. Last year, Nancy and Drew
bought a house in Quincy, Mass., and in November, they had a beautiful
baby girl, Katelyn Cleo. Nancy is planning on working in a private practice
in Quincy starting this summer. The Drews recently visited Jill and Peter
Vanderpot in Hartland, Vt., for a fun weekend with Nicole Boisvert, Tom
Quinn 95, and Andrea Noel-Doubleday and her husband, Michael. Jill
owns her own gym and runs a gymnastics team in Norwich, Vt., while Peter
has started his own contracting business. He has built some beautiful
houses in the White River Junction, Vt., area. Anyone looking to build
should look him up. The Vanderpots had a beautiful baby boy, Jared Patrick,
on Easter Sunday 2001. Nicole and Tom were engaged during the same reunion
weekend last year, and they are planning a July wedding in Maine. Nicole
graduated from New England College of Optometry last summer and is completing
a pediatric residency this year. She plans to work at the college when
she is finished. Andrea is a physical therapist in the Deerfield, Mass.,
area, where she and Michael live. Scott and Melany Desautels Chepow could
not make it to the mini-reunion. They were married in August 2000. They
have been living in Winooski, Vt., but they were planning to move to Saratoga
Springs in February. I hope theyll look me up. Nancy also keeps
in touch with Mandy Daly Hodson. Mandy and her husband, Tim, live in Vergennes,
Vt., where they have opened their own store, Addison Outfitters. They
have a beautiful daughter, Anna, who was born in June 2000.
1995
John Russell wrote from Kent, Conn., to tell us that he is still teaching
but gave up his afternoon jog to become a volunteer firefighter/EMT, which
he finds to be just as good a workout. Carl Erickson and his wife, Kerin,
are happy to announce the birth of their first child, Carl Douglas, on
September 5, 2001. Mom, dad, and baby are doing great. Blake Latta and
Penny Stasica were married on September 29, 2001, in Ludlow, Vt. Groomsmen
included Ryan Clinton, Peter Keith, Matt Losse, and Joe Nastro. Honor
Spire Engle and husband Doug welcomed their first child, a son, Charles
Burton Engle, born October 7, 2001. They have been living near Boulder,
Colo., for the past three years. Honor is a writer/editor at a marketing
company. Jennifer Jacobs is in her third year of law school at New College
School of Law in San Francisco. She keeps in touch with Nell Ryan, Jen
Hughes, Susie Powers, and Erika Mark. Jennifer wrote that she and Erica
Bowman saw all of them and Jill Munger and Samantha Smith Camera at Susies
wedding in South Royalton, Vt., in June 2001. The class of 1995 has been
pretty quiet lately, but I encourage you to write or send me an email
with your latest news or messages.

Hi, everyone! We hope you all enjoyed a happy and healthy holiday season.
Be sure to let us know of any exciting news in your life. Wed love
to hear from you. I wanted to let everyone know that my co-secretary,
Michelle, received a Silver Merit Award from the HSMAI annual competition
for excellence in marketing in the travel industry. Her winning entry,
completed for her employer, Virtuoso, was a series of consumer marketing
pieces for luxury hotels and resorts around the world. Scott Bilyeu of
Denver, Colo., visited his PT class buddy, Scott Bushweller, and wife
Sarah last August. They had a great weekend of eating lobsters, body surfing,
and attending the opening round of the U.S. Open tennis tournament. Amy
Jo LeCours married Andy Tosch in Vermont in August 2000. They live in
Essex Junction, Vt. Colleen Donovan was the maid of honor at her wedding,
and Laura Stein and Melissa Stewart were both bridesmaids. Amy is now
teaching English in Colchester, Vt. Also last August, Colleen Donovan
married Mike Morrison. Amy LeCours Tosch was a bridesmaid along with Paula
Cronk Chausse and Kathy Queaely OKeefe. Other UVMers in attendance
included Christie Casey, Jon Gilmore G94, Erin Nye (97) Gilmore,
Cheryl Rainville, Maureen Barry 97, Jen Bulger Mitchell, Scott Mitchell
99, Tom Lyons, Mindy Herrick (97) Lyons, John Rudick, and
Krista Valentino. Whitney Brown wrote that, because she is living in the
Boston area, she frequently sees Jess Jonas, Jenny and Dan Whitacker,
Elizabeth Dawson, and Grey Lee (who is usually hanging from chandeliers).
Whitney was also a bridesmaid in the recent wedding of Elizabeth Dawson
97. Gray and Whitney say hello to Sladers and L&Lers. Alex Nuttall
wrote that in October 2000 he ended a 3.5-year career in environmental
consulting to pursue a career in information technology, and in April
2001 he moved to Arlington, Va. Finally, Sean Stevens wrote that he is
getting married on May 11, 2002, in Connecticut, and he would love to
share the day with any old UVM friends in the area. Johnette Hartnett
has been awarded the prestigious Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation Fellowship
in Public Policy, one of only four recipients nationwide. Johnette is
an assistant research professor at UVM, but she will spend a year on Capitol
Hill working on legislation related to individuals with disabilities and
their families. She has focused her research on how state and federal
legislation affects people with disabilities. Thats all the news

Todd and Kadi Burroughs Luchsinger have a new son, Ethan, born January
8, 2001. Todd is the controller and assistant treasurer of the Agway Insurance
Group, and Kadi is a physical therapist with the Visiting Nurses Association.
They make their home in Syracuse, N.Y. Megan Tifft received her masters
in educational leadership in May 2001. She has been working for UVM Extension
as a 4H youth educator. Christopher Gouin worked for Morgan Stanley in
Burlington, Vt., then left for a short time to become an investment representative
to help expand their program before rejoining Morgan Stanley in 2000.
He started the Web site thevisastore.com. Christopher is engaged to marry
Eva Jensen, who is from Denmark. Ashley Kidder Campbell and her husband
live in Bethesda, Md. Jennifer LaVallee works in labor and delivery at
Augusta Maine General. She has taken graduate courses at Simmons College
and at the University of Maine South Portland. She has been having fun,
doing a lot of hiking and biking. Jaime Hanaway is a graduate student
at Tulane School of Social Work, and she plans to apply to Tulane Law
School. Jaime lives in New Orleans. Jennifer Potvin Fath of Grand Isle,
Vt., welcomed her son, Samuel, into the world on January 10, 2001. Sarah
Bosley married William Slimbaugh, a 1993 graduate of Holy Cross College,
on September 25, 2001. UVM attendees included Sara Vartanian, Nancy Surdek,
Dave Westbrook 96, Heather Blake, and Melissa Caron. The Slimbaughs
will live in Duxbury, Mass. Sarah also let us know that Nancy Surdek married
Dave Westbrook 96 on September 15, 2001. Attendants included Phil
Eboli 96, Matt Johnson 96, Brian Tartianelli 96, Eric
Lavoi 96, Gino Riffle 96, Sarah Bosley, Sara Vartanian, Heather
Blake, and Melissa Ceron. Sarah also wrote that Heather Blake is engaged
to Robert Callum, Kelly Fox is engaged to John Stremel. Prior to moving
to Salt Lake City, Utah, in May 2001, Heather McLaughlin and Chris Kolb
visited Jay Vandenburg in Hawaii. Heather let us know that she and Chris
got together with Joe Woerner for a weekend hiking trip in Grand Teton
National Park. Michele Bahnik of Oyster Bay, N.Y., is engaged to a fellow
teacher and Ithaca College graduate, Kevin Mercier. They are planning
a July 2002 wedding. Sara Wool lives in Boston, where she has worked for
Carney, Sandoe & Associates for the past three years. Cara Selchan
of Natick, Mass., was recently engaged, and she is planning her wedding
for August 3, 2002. Heather Shannon is enrolled in a certificate program
in tailoring at FIT. She also volunteers at the Bronx Zoo/Wildlife Conservation
Park and the ASPCA. Last June, Heather got together with Jessica Dayton
and Dana Rons 96 in Dublin, and they traveled around Ireland. Jessica
finished her first year of law school in San Francisco, and she is studying
at Trinity College in Dublin this summer. Dana is working in her field
and living in Boston. Heathers roommate, Jennifer Belter 99,
completed her second year of law school at Yeshiva University. Timothy
Kaul of New York City let us know that Dan Flynn works for Morgan Stanley
Dean Witter in New York and Christie Millard, who also lives in New York
City, was recently engaged.
1998
Alexandra Bovey is living in the New Haven, Conn., area with Mark Isselhardt.
Alexandra is in her second year at Yale School of Nursing, studying to
become a midwife. She and Mark both miss Vermont.
1999
Well, 2002 is underway. I am sure most of us are thankful to have a New
Year. I hope you are all getting out there and enjoying winter. Make the
most of it. I do have some updates for you, some engagements, some moves.
Please keep them coming. In this day and age, it is so important to keep
in touch. While running the Dublin marathon, Roger Cummins faked a knee
injury at mile 16 and proposed to his girlfriend, Anne Virginia McDevitt
of Avon, N.J. The wedding is set to take place on August 24, 2002, on
the Jersey shore where they met. Roger, congratulations and best of luck
to you! I just hope the DPsi boys behave themselves at the wedding. Allison
Spies is officially off the market. Rob Stewart surprised her on her birthday
with a shiny, round object. Congratulations to both of you! Since winter
is underway, I would like to mention how two of our fellow classmates
are spending their cold winter nights. Kevin Chipman and Chirag Vyas moved
to St. John at the end of September and are whooping it up
down on the island. After living on a boat for about a month, they finally
have settled down in an apartment. I am sure they will welcome any UVMers,
so plan your trip now. Chipper, Cheech, I hope you are doing right by
UVM down there. Make us proud! Sarah Brown received her masters
degree in speech-language pathology from Louisiana State University last
December. After spending two years in the bayous of Louisiana, Sarah looks
forward to returning to the Northeast. Sarah, I hope you are settling
into the cold winters once again. Welcome back! John Naso wanted everyone
to know that he is a 7th grade science teacher and astronomy teacher in
Winchester, N.H. He is also part-owner of a business. Meghan Grantham
lives in Newton, Mass., and works in the Newton Public School with children
with special needs. Saran MacCallum accepted the position of town planner
in Colchester, Vt., in September 2001. She is engaged to marry Eric Hodd
in July 2002. In a previous VQ, I mentioned that someone was looking for

David Cotoni wrote that he and R.S. Tyzbir of UVMs Department of
Nutrition and Food Sciences were invited to give a presentation at the
New England chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine Conference
in Providence, R.I. They presented on the subject, Age Prediction
Equations Used to Estimate Metabolic Maximum During Physical Activity
in Children, Young Adults, Elderly, and at High Altitude. Veronique
