Nicholas Donofrio, IBM fellow emeritus, will give a talk titled “Beyond Politics: It’s Time to Build Vermont’s Innovation Economy” at UVM on Monday, Sept. 26, at noon in the Silver Maple Ballroom in the Davis Center.

The talk is free and open to the public.

Donofrio is a 44-year IBM veteran who led IBM’s technology and innovation strategies from 1997 to 2008 as senior vice president of technology and manufacturing and as executive vice president for innovation and technology.

He was elected an IBM Fellow, the company’s highest technical honor, in 2008. A holder of seven US patents, Donofrio is a fellow of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a member of the US National Academy of Engineering.

Donofrio chaired a recent National Academy of Engineering commission on spurring growth and jobs in the U.S., co-authoring the resulting study, Making Value for America: Embracing the Future of Manufacturing, Technology, and Work.
