In an op ed that appeared in multiple newspapers around the country, UVM president Tom Sullivan wrote that the NCAA’s new autonomy plan, which would allow the five largest athletic conferences to set their own rules regarding recruitment and compensation, will have a negative effect on college athletics and higher education – making it harder for smaller schools to compete and potentially shifting dollars away from academics to athletic programs.
