University of Vermont Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences Anne Dougherty, M.D.’09, was the featured speaker at the Global Health Series event on Monday, October 13, 2014. She presented her “field notes,” as well as future opportunities for UVM engagement in Uganda at the session, which took place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Sullivan Classroom in the Medical Education Center at the College of Medicine.

Mitra Sadigh, a postbaccalaureate premedical student at UVM and coordinator at Western Connecticut Health Network Foundation, was also at the session selling necklaces to fund health care for Ugandan street girls.

Directed by Majid Sadigh, M.D., UVM associate professor of medicine and director of the Global Health Center at Danbury Hospital/Western Connecticut Health Network, the Global Health Series program is held monthly throughout the academic year and brings speakers from a range of disciplines to campus several times throughout the year to discuss global health topics. Students, residents and faculty from the UVM College of Medicine, UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and Fletcher Allen Health Care are invited to attend the sessions, which include refreshments.
