The UVM Department of Theatre opens the 2014/2015 season with A Grand Night for Singing, a musical tribute to two of Broadway’s most beloved composers, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.

Nominated for two Tony Awards (including Best Musical) A Grand Night for Singing features memorable songs from such shows as State Fair, Carousel, Oklahoma, The King and I and The Sound of Music. Lively and inventive, A Grand Night for Singing offers new twists on old favorites. With innovative arrangements this intimate revue leaves no question about how terrifically up to date the remarkable songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein remain.

A Grand Night for Singing will be presented Oct. 2-4 and Oct. 9-12 on the stage of the Royall Tyler Theatre. Directed by guest lecturer Craig Wells, A Grand Night for Singing opens the 2014/2015 season, a year in which the department celebrates 40 years of theatre on the Royall Tyler Stage.
