Two staff members at the University of Vermont College of Medicine – Tiffany Delaney, MA.Ed., and Cary Jewkes – have taken on new roles at the College, according to an announcement by Dean Frederick Morin, M.D.

In order to support the increased number of diversity and inclusion initiatives at the College, Delaney has been named director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, as of July 16, 2014. Delaney joined the College of Medicine’s admissions team in 2003, was named director of medical admissions in 2005, and has been serving as director of medical admissions and outreach since 2012. She received a bachelor’s degree from Goddard College and a master’s degree in higher education administration from George Washington University.

“Tiffany and Assistant Dean for Diversity & Inclusion Margaret Tandoh, M.D., have done an excellent job leading the Dean’s Advisory Committee on Diversity & Inclusion and implementing a series of projects and programs that helped us to recruit, and continue to support, the most diverse and intellectually prepared student body in our history,” says Morin.

Jewkes, who has served as assistant director of admissions since 2013, has been named director of medical student admissions. An admissions team reader since 1999, Jewkes formally joined the Office of Medical Student Admissions in 2010. She received a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.

“Cary has been exemplary in serving the College as assistant director of admissions for the past year,” says Morin. “She and Associate Dean Jan Gallant, M.D., will oversee a new process for interviewing and screening applicants as they direct the work of the Admissions Committee and ensure we continue to attract and admit students who are prepared to serve as physicians in an ever-changing healthcare environment.”
