A Google search for Professor Paul Bierman’s new finding yields more than 750 hits in multiple languages including the Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, the International Business Times, Le Monde, NBC news, the National Science Foundation and the homepage of NASA. Bierman’s research on the Greenland ice sheet has led to a discovery of organic soil that has been frozen underneath the ice for 2.7 million years. This indicates that the ice sheet has existed much longer than previously thought, but Bierman cautions that global temperatures are rising higher than the entire period of the ice sheet’s history: “If we keep on our current trajectory, the ice sheet will not survive.” Watch a video from the Wall Street Journal… and listen to Bierman on Vermont Public Radio...
