UVM will hold its annual Student Research Conference on Wednesday, April 16 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Dudley H. Davis Center.

Three-hundred and thirty-six students – 198 undergraduates and 121 graduate students – will show posters or make oral presentations at the conference. Seventy-one academic programs will be represented from all 10 of UVM’s colleges and schools. The conference will feature student creative work, as well as research.   

"I urge everyone on campus to come by the Davis Center on April 16, walk through the exhibits, engage with our undergraduate and graduate students, and hear for themselves what these impressive young people are accomplishing," said Provost David Rosowsky. "I hope undergraduate students who aren't participating will also attend, to see what the outcome of doing research or creative work can be, and to lay the groundwork for being part of this outstanding event in future years."

“The Student Research Conference is one of the most popular events on campus, for good reason,” said Abu Rizvi, dean of UVM’s Honors College, a co-sponsor of the event. "Students and faculty are increasingly aware that mentored research and creative activity are ideal ways to both apply the content knowledge students are learning in the classroom and to extend it to new, related areas -- often in a way that has an enduring impact."

Student projects run the gamut from a study on the impact of chronic pain on cognitive functioning to research on bacterial blooms and fatty acids transfer in the Lake Champlain food web to an order book analysis of NASDAQ market data.
