The Catamounts earned the No. 13 overall seed while Union received the No. 3 seed on Sunday afternoon as the 16-team field was revealed. UVM will be making its sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history and its first since 2009-10.

Friday's East Regional Semifinal will be televised nationally on ESPNU as John Buccigross and Barry Melrose call the action from Webster Bank Arena. Fans can also watch online via WatchESPN and on the WatchESPN app for mobile devices and tablets. Vermont leads the all-time series 18-10-2 against former ECAC rival Union in 30 meetings dating back to 1991. The Catamounts defeated the 12th-ranked Dutchmen 2-1 last season in the annual Sheraton/TD Bank Catamount Cup at Gutterson Fieldhouse in the schools' first matchup since UVM joined Hockey East in 2005-06. Kevin Sneddon was the head coach at Union for five seasons before taking over at Vermont in 2003-04.

With an overall record of 20-14-3 (10-10-0 HEA), UVM is in the midst of its first 20-win season since 2008-09 when it reached the NCAA Frozen Four for the second time in school history. That season, the Catamounts beat Yale and Air Force in Bridgeport, Conn. to advance to the national semifinals against Boston University.
