VPR interviews associate professor Jeff Frolik about his research on charging methods for electric cars as he responds to concerns that an increase in electric car usage could place stress on the electric grid when too many people plug in their cars at once. Frolik has been working on an idea he calls “power packets” – where electric car owners can recharge their vehicles in repeated, smaller increments as opposed to all at once.
