Associate professor Jeff Frolik’s research on charging methods for electric cars has garnered coverage from Kurzweil Accelerating Intelligence News, VPR and other media outlets. Responding to concerns that an increase in electric car usage could place stress on the electric grid when too many people plug in their cars at once, Frolik has been working on an idea he calls “power packets” – where electric car owners can recharge their vehicles in repeated, smaller increments as opposed to all at once.
