Associate professor Josh Bongard’s work in robotics is covered in an article for Smithsonian magazine. Bongard is an instrumental figure in the “evo devo robo” field, designing robots that can continuously learn, adapt and redesign themselves. His latest work involves starting with very simple robots and gradually building them up in a survival-of-the-fittest model.
